Warframe - Valkyr, the Tormented

The only thing I remember clearly from that time was pain. Everything else was swallowed in darkness. I was a thing to them. They used me for their own ends... To see a little extra profit and a boost in technology. They either didn't know or didn't care that a living soul was underneath all of their machinery; clinging to the pain because she lacked anything else to hold onto.

When I was finally rescued, the rest of my memory came back a little at a time. I am Tenno. I fight for honor. I fight to overcome corruption. But I am now different from the other Tenno. I understand a pain and suffering that no other could begin to realize. As I look upon all of my brethren, I can tell that they know it, too. They stand silent... poised. Even as we fight side-by-side in battle, they do so in silence, with an almost civilized grace.

I am no longer like them. I no longer have such civility or grace in me. I will no longer keep my silence. When I battle against the injustice in this system, they will hear my pain. They shall cower before my voice. They shall know the suffering that has been inflicted upon me so that no one must fall victim to such horror again. 

I am Valkyr. The Lotus calls me Valkyr the Tormented. I call myself Valkyr the Survivor. For as long as my pain and my suffering live on, I know that I am alive. And woe to those who incite my true rage, for they will never live to see another day.

This is a bit of a departure for me. I decided to pay tribute to a game I've found a lot of enjoyment with, called Warframe. Warframe is an incredibly fun action title that is available for free on Steam, and is available on the Playstation 3 as well. It centers around the Tenno, who use the titular Warframes, living suits with superhuman abilities. They fight against various militaristic factions in a bid to restore peace to worlds long since dominated with an iron fist.

Warframe is a unique title that holds a strange mixture of gunplay, swordplay, stealth, and even parkour elements to make a rounded package with a ton of replay value. Consider this my recommendation.

But back to the picture. Valkyr is a Warframe that's actually interested me for some time. As she actually has a storyline based upon the horrors of torture and experimentation at the hands of one of the military factions known as the Corpus, Valkyr's powers involve releasing bottled-up rage in a fury of violent abilities, rallying her allies and cowering her enemies. To this date, she is the ONLY Warframe who does not uphold the characteristic silence, and she will scream with rage when using some of her abilities. It's for this reason that I decided to work on this character.

There was one other reason, and that was I knew going in it would be a challenge. And let me tell you guys... this is NOT let me down in that department. This was an incredibly difficult bit of lineart to manage, and it took me a very long time. But having said that, it felt really good to accomplish it. I would say this actually outstrips the xenomorph in terms of toughest characters to draw yet. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! Catch you next time!
