Description

Sky drummed his fingers on his desk. His monitor glowed with some article he'd been half-heartedly reading, but his eyes were unfocused on it or anything else. As he sat in his dimly-lit room, he arrived at one firm conclusion: he was SOOOOOOOOOOO BORED.

But more than a boredom, Sky felt a sort of restlessness. He felt like something was missing. Something he really wanted to have a grasp on again. Something he'd left behind.

Somewhat irritably, Sky stood up and flicked the power button on his monitor, putting it into sleep mode. With a sigh, he flopped onto his bed, looking up at the ceiling as he lay uncomfortably on a pile of blankets. He didn't understand what the feeling he was experiencing was at its core, and yet he knew it had to come to a head. He needed to figure out what was missing.

Stardom.

Sky sat up, a trickle of cold sweat forming on his brow. Some half-remembered memory beginning to surface. All at once, he wasn't sure if he was READY to remember. He felt scared and vulnerable and suddenly the boredom and restlessness didn't seem such a bad alternative. And yet his mind still grasped at it. What was he not remembering? What was it he wanted to feel again?

Fun. Excitement. Entertainment.

Without realizing he was doing so, Sky stood up and walked toward his closet, pausing just short of the door. What was it he was thinking about? What was it that he was missing? All he had to do was open the closet door and he'd find out.

Sky's hand trembled and he froze to the spot. He was held fast by some kind of... a kind of...

There's no need for stage fright. You were born to perform.

Sky opened the closet door, looking at the pure blackness within. His eyes had not yet adjusted to the dark from the brightness of his monitor. But nevertheless, he could not look away. He knew he was seeing something he himself could not see just yet. He was seeing something important. It was as if he was seeing...

Your destiny.

Sky let out a little frightened yip and tried to pull himself back. Tried to slam the closet door shut and run back to his bed. What he found himself doing instead was reaching out and grabbing the item in front of him; dangling from a hanger. The material was so alien to him, and yet so pleasant. Smooth... clean... glossy... rubbery. It was something he'd been craving for far too long. But... what even WAS it?

All the world's a stage, Skye. Are you ready to take the star role again?

"You know it!" Sky found himself excitedly saying without even realizing he'd done so; pulling the outfit out of the closet and kicking the door shut behind him. Now, his eyes had adjusted and he saw the memory he'd forgotten. The memory of his time as a harlequin dragon.

The purple and blue suit looked so inviting to him. In spite of his best efforts, his memory and personality as the fearless and endlessly entertaining harlequin continued to expand until it began to engulf him whole. He knew what this feeling was and what scared him most was that he wasn't even making an attempt to resist it. In spite of his fear, he knew that he really wanted this more than anything.

Sky undid the back of the suit and slipped into it. As the suit did its work, molding and shaping his - now HER - internal body to merge with the suit once more, the back of the costume sealed up with Sky inside. A costume no more; now her one and true body.

Skye looked down with a delighted grin. She'd missed this feeling so incredibly much. She was once again her true self. She walked over to the mirror and gave herself a cursory inspection; no trouble now because the darkness was no issue for her eyes. "Hmm... I think I might need to make a few modifications." She thought for a moment. "A ha! Let's try a few more bells and frills. After all, I need to catch attention in style!"

So, before her body fully solidified in the new shape, she did her work touching up and improving upon her own design and giving herself an all new flair.

"The dragon diva is back! Time to start booking some gigs."

And what a glorious comeback it was.

Commission for the incredibly wonderful :iconskizzlechizzle: , bringing back their old favorite with some new modifications. I really enjoy doing latex harlequin TFs. Maybe we'll see even more in the future.

I was actually really scared to do this because I honestly wanted to make this extra special. It's the first time in quite awhile that I've done straight-up solid cel shading, which also had me nervous. If it turned out okay, that is what matters.

The pose and backgrounds are actually reference to a 1-second shot on an Undertale music video I saw ("Gives you hell" - check it out, it's amazing), though the funny thing is, I only remembered the POSE at first and was desperately trying to wrack my brain figuring out WHERE I saw the pose. Once I remembered (to my intense relief), I continued with the motif a bit.

Anyway, there will also be a holiday version of this released as well. Take you pick on which one you like more. I'll upload it on sta.sh for a couple of days and then reupload it properly after a bit, just to make sure the two of them aren't overshadowing one another in people's feeds.
